Pakistan protecting religious freedom, says Sherry

Pakistan is firmly committed to promote and protect religious freedoms and its parliament and government have been actively pursuing this goal, Ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman said. She was talking to Dr Katrina Lantos Swett, chair of the US Commission on International Freedom, who called on the ambassador. Swett apprised Sherry of her commission’s work and interest in promoting religious freedoms around the world. She praised the envoy for her personal commitment to the protection and promotion of religious freedom and minority rights in Pakistan. Sherry said that the minorities were making invaluable contributions to the development, peace and prosperity of Pakistan and the government was committed to fully harnessing their potential and contributions in all walks of life.
