The prevailing load shedding in the twin cities has badly affected the tailors, who have refused to book orders for Eid-ul-Fitr.
Affluent people can afford readymade clothes, but the majority is highly dependent on tailors to get their Eid dress stitched. Keeping the situation in view, the tailors have been found to delay orders and also demand double charges for their skill.
According to local reports, many tailors had stopped booking orders from the onset of Ramazan due to excessive power outages. There is a good chance that orders booked in the first week of Ramazan would not be completed for Eid.
The constant load shedding has pushed people towards buying readymade clothes, and has put additional burden on their budgets.
Most of the tailors say they cannot afford a generator because it would cut down their profits. The price of stitching has doubled overtime, and people are willing to pay any amount of money to get their clothes stitched in time.
