Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has asked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to build a dyke along Ravi River near Narang Mandi, Sheikhupura.
In his letter to the CM, he stated that India had released water into Ravi which could cause flooding in Narang Mandi and its suburbs. He urged the CM to issue orders to the Irrigation Department for the construction of a dike to save the area from inundation.
He also said that farmers were facing a hard time because their crops were destroyed by the gradual erosion of Ravi, and asked the CM to help them out in this time of need.
