A female member of Punjab Assembly from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has formed an unannounced forward bloc in the party to garner other legislators’ support for Zulfikar Khosa and Dost Mohammad Khosa, who have developed differences with the Sharif brothers. According to reports, MPA Shamsa Gauhar, who was elected on a reserved seat for women, has so far garnered the support of more than 15 other female MPAs, and was in contact with other legislators as well for this purpose.
Gauhar is considered to be very close to the Khosas and she is reported to have decided to openly support the Khosas instead of the party leadership. When contacted by the INP for comments on the report, Shamsa Gauhar confirmed having contacts with other MPAs on the issue, and claimed that “a large number of women MPAs” supported her and the Khosas. She however refused to give their number, but said everything would come out in the open after Eid.
