Adiala prisoners should be released if no evidence found, says CJ

The Supreme Court on Thursday summoned the record of the cases registered against prisoners recovered from Adiala Jail. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said if these prisoners were involved in an attack on a three-star general then the authorities should present evidence against them otherwise should release them. Addressing the agencies’ lawyer, Raja Irshad, the CJP said as he had already admitted that the case could not be preceded in accordance with the Army Act, he should present evidence against the prisoners in the SC, adding that they should have been released if there was not sufficient evidence against them. The hearing of the case was adjourned for three weeks.
