Police on Thursday arrested three suspects and foiled a plot to carry out massive sabotage act in the provincial capital by seizing about 250 kg explosives from a sub-urban vehicle (SUV) in the Eastern Bypass area.
Acting on a tip-off, the police launched a search operation. While searching a Parado vehicle on Allauddin Achakzai Road in the Eastern Bypass area of Quetta, the police found 200 to 250 kg explosives. It arrested the three persons boarding the vehicle. The explosives included 20 pieces of rocket tubes, 1,000 to 1,200 explosive rounds, six filled cylinders, one suicide jacket, five primer cord coils, 10 rockets (RF-7), seven pieces of 400mm rockets, two hand grenades, 10 pieces of RC, three small bombs, one explosive mixing machine, 10 police uniforms and one digital scale.
The police said that the arrested men had been shifted to a police station for interrogation. “The seized explosives were to be used for a big sabotage act in the city,” the police said.
