Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday submitted a certificate in the Supreme Court as proof that he had abandoned British citizenship. The certificate confirmed that Malik had relinquished his British citizenship in 2008 before he was elected as a senator. Several other relevant documents were also attached with the rejoinder. Malik’s renunciation certificate from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) is dated May 29, 2012. His lawyers had only endorsed submission of the application back in 2008. The federal minister requested the court to discharge the plea filed against him.
