The Supreme Court on Thursday indicted property tycoon Malik Riaz with contempt of court.
A three-judge bench of Justice Shakirullah Jan, Justice Ejaz Afzal and Justice Athar Saeed was hearing the case against Malik Riaz.
Earlier, a show-cause notice was issued by the court on June 13 for allegations against Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry at a press conference held on June 12.
Abudl Basit, Riaz’s counsel in the case, said that the proceedings over the case should be postponed until the intera-court appeal was heard.
Justice Afzal responded that the contempt law has been struck down and the current laws would determine the proceedings of the court.
Basit argued that new contempt law was in place the day intra-court appeal was filed and soon after the filing of the appeal, the show-cause notice and contempt of court hearing was adjourned.
Justice Afzal then remarked that Contempt of Court Act 2012 should be treated as if it never existed.

Why judiciary cannot be criticized? The make mistakes, blunders and claim to be pure and above law. Justice should be given to the common man. They need to clean their courts at lower level. SC is acting like a lower court.
I see the Bahria town employees are trying to convince us that Riaz is an innocent victim. In reality he is in cahoots with Zardari trying to bribe judges and their families so that he and his boss can rip off Pakistan off. Needs to be hanged to send a warning to others.

This is the conspiracy everyone is saying he did it on behalf of Zardari but this has certainly ruined his image I wonder if people will still buy Bahria plots after this scandal is over?
