Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Mujahid Sherdil on Wednesday said that intensity of floods in some rivers of the province has abated and most rivers are reverting to their original condition.
In a press statement, he said that as a result of a breach at Ferozwala in River Ravi, some affected people had shifted to “kacha” area of the river. He said that no damage of life and property had occurred. He denied allegations that no one had arrived to help flood affected people and said that local administration had arrived immediately on the scene to provide assistance. Moreover, Sherdil said that breach at Kandhar Canal in Khanpur had been deliberately done by unknown persons and the situation had been quickly rectified by local administration.
