At least 16 people were killed and four more injured on Monday when a pick-up truck smashed into a tractor-trailer on a highway in northwestern Mexico, police said.
The head-on collision happened Monday morning, Sonora state police said in a statement, adding that the pick-up swerved into the opposite lane and crashed into the larger truck, which caught fire.
The truck driver and his 10-year-old son were both killed, as were 14 people in the pick-up truck.
The wounded included the truck driver’s daughter and two grandchildren.
