The Supreme Court has ordered the Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) chairman to take measures to stop obscenity on TV channels. The orders came during the hearing of a petition against obscenity on TV channels. An SC bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case. The CJ remarked: “We can’t watch TV with our families due to this vulgarity.” He said PEMRA would be responsible if obscenity was shown on TV channels. The PEMRA chairman told the court: “We are also family men and we take action over any such programme.” The CJ asked what action was taken against the channels to which the PEMRA chief said a number of TV channels had been fined and banned by the regulatory body.
The public declothing of the Honorable Chief Justice was not only obscene but also a sore sight because he turned out to be way more uglier than we had imagined.
I am also a family man and the biggest TV censor is the on/off button. Use it if you feel the program is obscene.
