SHO held for role in couple’s naked parade

A station house officer (SHO) was arrested on Sunday for his alleged involvement in the naked parade of a woman and man on streets for their ‘intention of adultery’, a private TV channel reported.
According to the SSP concerned, four policemen nominated in the case had so far been held, while raids were being conducted to arrest two more who were at large.
The SHO had fled after the case of the couple’s naked parade was registered but was finally arrested later on Sunday.
Earlier, the SHO and two of his assistant sub-inspectors were suspended for parading the couple naked in Gambat, a tehsil of Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah’s ancestral district Khairpur.
The couple was arrested on charges of “intent to commit adultery” in Mirbahar area of Gambat on July 27 after which they were forced to walk naked through the town to the police station.
According to SSP Khairpur, Irfan Baloch, a police party had raided a suspected brothel last month and allegedly caught a man and a woman committing adultery, however, he added that his department was looking into the allegations that the couple was made to walk naked to the police station.
“If the cops accused of such inhuman treatment towards the couple were found guilty, they will not be spared,” he said.
