Saudi King Abdullah invited Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for an extraordinary summit of Muslim leaders to be held this month in the holy city of Mecca, state news agency SPA reported on Sunday. The Saudi monarch “sent a written letter to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inviting him to attend the extraordinary Islamic solidarity meeting which will be held in Mecca” in mid-August, SPA reported. Tensions have been running high between the Sunni-dominated Saudi kingdom and Shia Iran as both regional powers have taken opposite stances on the uprisings in Bahrain and Syria.

  1. Saudi's are trying to convince Iran to drop her support for Asad's regime in Syria. However, the Saudi's have no interest in Islamic solidarity. It is only they who pressurize Israel and the US to finish the regime in Iran. If they are really interested in unifying the Muslim world then they must playing dirty game in the region.
