Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf held three separate meetings with Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hasni and Minister of State for Defense Sardar Saleem Haider on Saturday at Prime Minister’s House on the overall political and security situation in the country, with special reference to Balochistan and directed to ensure peace in Balochistan.
In one of the meetings, Minister for Interior Rehman Malik called on the PM and apprised him about the speech delivered by him in the Senate where he unveiled the elements responsible for instability in Balochistan.
The PM directed the minister to take every possible measure and ensure that people of Balochistan lived in peace and their life and property was secured.
During the meeting with Senator Sardar Fateh, the PM said that he had constituted a high powered committee under the Chairmanship of Federal Minister for Defense, Syed Naveed Qamar to put up a comprehensive report about the situation in Balochistan. The committee, the PM said, was consulting all stakeholders before it came up with its recommendations. The prime minister said that he was confident that with the cooperation and support of the people of Balochistan the government would be able to overcome the present difficulties.
Senator Sardar Fateh assured the prime minister of all possible assistance and cooperation to the government in its endeavor to improve the situation in Balochistan.
Sardar Saleem Haider, in his meeting with the PM, apprised him about the various on-going development schemes of his constituency.
Malik asks estranged Baloch youth to return to country: ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday asked estranged Baloch youth to return to the country and assured them that they would be provided jobs by the government. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad‚ he said some youth might be involved in objectionable activities because of some compulsions and his offer aimed at bringing them to the mainstream. Malik said Baloch leader Brahamdagh Bugti had a soft corner for Pakistan and the government was ready to send a man of his choice for talks. He said the Baloch nation wanted to live with Pakistan and the disgruntled youth should come back as the government would provide them jobs. Malik said Brahamdagh Bugti was living as Ibraheem. He said the cabinet’s committee would visit Balochistan from Tuesday, adding that no operation would be conducted in Balochistan now. The minister said measures were being taken at all levels to curb terrorism. He said agencies should not be blamed for the situation in Balochistan. “We also have complete details about the activities of BLA and other terrorist groups,” Malik added. NNI
