Senate Chairman Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari said on Saturday that Pakistan and Iran could play a vital part in establishing peace and stability in the region.
He said this in a meeting with Iranian Speaker Dr. Ali Larijani in Iran. Nayyer emphasized the need for increasing trade between the countries from more than $1.3 billion at which it presently stands.
Referring to the problem of terrorism, he said both Pakistan and Iran needed to work together to uproot the menace from the region. He said that the Pakistani government and people would never allow anyone to use their soil against any brotherly country.
He also called for the establishment of more border posts on the Pak-Iran border to provide security and insurance to trade-related activities between the two countries.
According to him, durable peace and stability could only be achieved in Afghanistan if Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran cooperated with each other.
