PPP, allies discuss country’s current political situation

A meeting of ruling party and its allies held here at the presidency on Friday that thoroughly discussed the current political situation of the country with special reference to the short verdict of the Supreme Court regarding new Contempt of Court Act 2012.
The meeting which was chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, decided not to confront with the Supreme Court and gave free hand to PML-Q for bringing political change in Punjab.
According to the sources, the meeting said that constitutional and legal experts would review drawbacks of the Contempt of Court Act 2012 and would prepare new draft bill for tabling in the parliament.
The sources said that President Asif Ali Zardari also apprised the allies of the preparations for coming general polls. The sources further said the meeting discussed the electricity load shedding in the country besides the Balochistan issue.
President Zardari addressing the meeting said the government did not want confrontation with any institution, however, he maintained that all institutions should work under their limits according to the Constitution. He said the Constitution and Parliament are supreme and its supremacy would be maintained at all costs.
Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, FATA parliamentary leader, Muneer Khan Aurakzai, MQM parliamentary leader Dr Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghauri, Afraisab Khattak and Haji Adeel of ANP and senior leaders of PPP participated in the meeting.

  1. i think government is takin positve stepsto strenghthen political system and making way for next poltical asn democratice govt…if all politicians show their interest then decatotership will face hurdles to rule on.
