A Saudi policeman and a protester were killed in overnight clashes in the kingdom’s oil-rich Shiite-populated Eastern Province, state news agency SPA reported on Saturday.
“A security patrol came under heavy gunfire from four armed rioters on motorbikes,” SPA said, adding that policeman Hussein Zabani was killed and another was wounded.
The attack was followed by a firefight in which one of the rioters died, it added, quoting interior ministry spokesman Mansur al-Turki.
