Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) would provide every possible facility to the central procession on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali. This was revealed by Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan while chairing a meeting concerned with arrangements of Youm-e-Ali procession on the 21st of Ramadan. He gave instructions to keep Nishter Park clean and wanted objectionable wall chalking to be removed from sensitive areas. The meeting was attended by representatives of Syed Zameer-ul-Hasan Trust Nishter Park, KMC, Parks and Horticulture, DMCs, Municipal Services Department, Water Board and KESC.
Metropolitan Commissioner directed the departments concerned to place fire brigades, ambulances and rescue units on the main route of the central procession.
Security for smaller procession was also discussed during the meeting. Water Department said it would ensure availability of water tankers during the procession. Traffic police was directed to control the flow of traffic. KESC agreed to provide standby generators while DMC East and South would provide mobile toilets.
Transfers and Postings in KMC: Metropolitan Commissioner, Matanat Ali Khan issued orders of transfers and postings in Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) with the approval of Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed.
According to the orders, Senior Director Human Resources Management, Najmuddin Sikander had been transferred and posted as Senior Legal Advisor KMC. Najmuddin’s post has been given to Ahsan Mirza. Azra Muqeem was relieved of her post as Senior Legal Advisor and the Legal Consultant Manzoor Ahmed has been directed to report to Metropolitan Secretariat imediately.
It is worth mentioning that Najmuddin holds a law degree and is also a member of Sindh Bar Council.
NADRA officers meets Administrator Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator, Muhammad Hussain Syed said that 178 union councils of Karachi had been linked with NADRA’s Civil Registration Management System (CRMS). This would enable citizens to get computerized certificates for birth, death, marriage and divorce to keep as proof.
This was revealed in a meeting he held with NADRA officials at his office.
The Administrator said that citizens could fulfill legal obligations by registering with the four categories whenever required, and that these documents were authorized in Europe and other countries.
Director Operations Division NADRA informed the administrator on this occasion that NADRA had launched CRMS, under which the four documents could be registered through respective union councils (UC). All 6550 UCs were trained to issue the computerized cards, and all UCs were linked with NADRA. 2233 UCs had been made operational in this regard.
Director Operations NADRA said that the CRMS was launched in 2006 and had already registered documents of millions of people. The system was well established in Karachi and would be gradually implemented in interior Sindh.
KMC administrator said that all out support would be extended to NADRA for implementing CRMS effectively.
