The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Thursday submitted a report against PML-N legislator Hanif Abbasi before a division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Registry. The report stated that Abbasi had obtained illegal quota of ephedrine, adding that a case had been registered against the MNA for his involvement in misuse of the controlled chemical. Responding to Abbasi’s petition filed in the court, the ANF stated that he was not being harassed, although, investigation was being carried out against him. Earlier on Monday, the ANF had registered a case against the legislator and his partner Zafar Bakhtawari, owners of Gray Pharmaceutical, for allegedly misusing 500 kilogrammes of ephedrine. Also on Monday, the bench had directed Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Ali Musa Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, to cooperate with the investigation team of the ANF in connection with the scam. The court had warned both of them that if they did not cooperate, their interim bail would be canceled, subsequently leading to their arrest by the ANF.
