Ex-Chief of Sarhad Hydel Development Organization (SHYDO) has the audacity to ridicule ANP leaders for load shedding in KPK and Pakistan.
The fact of the matter is that since 1960-70’s when the thermal power units were installed (on 5-6 year contracts) no other power production project were undertaken in Pakistan until 2008, when PPP came into power and we first faced load shedding in Pakistan.
SHYDO is a Provisional organization that was to develop all the 50MW and below hydel power projects in KPK. But in its 30 years of existence, SHYDO has not constructed any project.
SHYDO has completed a number of feasibility studies (via funds from GTz and other foreign funded organizations) but has not acted on any of these studies in two decades.
The last time I checked, in 2010, SHYDO had a fund of 200 crore rupees in the organizations NIB bank account. And in the last 2 decades, SHYDO has only been saving this fund in its accounts, and had not spent a single rupee in developing any hydel projects in KPK.
KPK has more than 60,000 MW hydel potential, but with hydel power the construction time takes a very long time. For example, SHYDO had identified potential of 4500MW hydel dam at Dasu and also at Basha in 1970’s. The feasibility of Dasu dam said that it would take 4 years to construct the dam, and then another 3 years to fill the dam with enough water so it can start producing electricity.
So Mr Ex-Chief SHYDO, you should not be complaining about others work because you yourself has not done anything for this country, this province or these people. You, like many others in SHYDO, spent your time getting your salaries only and did not do a single days worth of honest work. If you had honestly worked, then today SHYDO would have completed all the old projects and we in KPK would not have to face any load shedding at all.
