PAC orders inquiry against four generals

The Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday ordered the initiation of an inquiry against four former generals who got LGP quotas In a meeting chaired by Nadeem Afzal in Islamabad, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials informed the committee that NAB received a share of 30 percent on recovering looted money under the recovery and reward law. The NAB officials said they had received a total of Rs 1.6 billion from the government so far. However, it had not been given any share since 2008. Committee member Khawaja Asif said police and audit officials also recovered looted money but did not get any share, adding that a uniform policy should be made for all departments.
Expressing displeasure with NAB for receiving payments of Rs 10.3 million for anti-corruption campaign, the committee directed the officials to get audited the amount received by NAB under the head of donation and reward. NAB Chairman Fasih Bukhari said an amount of Rs 60.5 million received as a reward was distributed among 2000 employees of NAB. Khawaja Asif said former NAB chairman Khalid Maqbool took a loan of Rs 2 billion but never returned it. Another former NAB chairman Munir Hafeez and General (r) Saeed Muzaffar and Gen (r) Moeenuddin Haider got LPG quotas. The committee directed launching an inquiry into corruption allegations against four former generals. During the session, Chairman NAB Fasih Bukhari assured the committee of presenting the investigation report into the allegations in a
month’s time.

  1. Hope that the findings of corruption scandals against the four Generals will be made public.

  2. The committee chairman is about to lose his job. As corrupt as kiayani is, he will never allow accountability of other generals because it could very well happen to him also after he retires.

On the same charge Aitzaz Ahsan his wife and for that matter the entire Parliament Advisers included and family members need to be investigated and should be investigated.I would certainly like to know if this is applicable to members of PAC too,if so PAC may have to be dissolved.We destroy the impact of a law by issueing such statements followed by phonecalls to affected persons telling them to not to worry.If PM and his sons could get away than no one in this govt will have the courage to do this much less the mirasi of PML N who calls himself Khawaja.
