Judiciary harming country’s economy: Fawad Chaudhry

PPP’s Fawad Chaudhry has lauded his party’s services for strengthening of democracy, while lambasting Judiciary for endeavouring to harm the economy.
Addressing a press conference at PPP’s media cell on Thursday alongside Muzaffar Ali Shajra and others, he also accused Judiciary for harming any possible investments in the country.
“A handful of judges cannot represent masses, through courtroom cases, and those who want to practice/involve in politics should leave the courtrooms and try their luck in counselor elections”, he ‘advised’.
Expressing his desire to contest elections as a PPP candidate from his native Jhelum, he declared PPP as the first ever party to complete its democratic term, and also lauded President Zardari for saving the nation from any disintegration.
He said that despite the prevailing crisis of load shedding and inflation, there has nevertheless been quite an increase in salaries also, while PPP ‘had taken steps’ to control crisis.
He added that ‘PCO judges’ had no right to declare Parliament as not the supreme institution.
Declaring the mastermind of all the ills, as sitting in his Raiwind abode, he said that his associates were present in Court No.1.
He was also critical of the cases against the government being reviewed on daily basis, while normally the cases took months to be reviewed.
He said the Swiss case was initiated due to the brother of ‘non-deserving Judge’, Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday, during the 90s, and said the issue of writing to Swiss Court was purely a political stunt, having no constitutional validity.
Replying to another question, he said the decision of immunity could not be decided by CJ alone, while responding to another question, he said that holding elections was not the responsibility of president, but Parliament.
