Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) submitted a report against Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Hanif Abbasi before a division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The report stated that Abbasi had obtained illegal quota for ephedrine, adding that, a case had been registered against him for involvement in misuse of the controlled chemical.
Earlier on Monday, the ANF had registered a case against the legislator and his partner Zafar Bakhtawari, owners of Gray Pharmaceutical, for misusing 500 kilograms of ephedrine.
The bench had also directed Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Ali Musa Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, to cooperate with the investigation team of the ANF in connection with the ephedrine scam.
The court had warned both of them that their non-cooperation would result in the cancellation of their interim bail subsequently leading to their arrest by the ANF.
Upon assurances by counsel of Makhdoom Shahab and Musa Gilani for joining the investigation, the court extended their interim bail to August 6.

Hanif Abbasi is a “political scum” in every sense of the expression. A low life suffering from inferiority complex generated by lack of class, lack of quality education and lack of character. Lately an Ephedrine overdose has had serious impact on what was left of his mental health. And now he has raised above his brand of politics and established his credentials as a drug dealer.
He is destined to bite the dust in elections, which will prove last nail in his political coffin.
But we may just see a trailer of the movie before the election, as ANF hangs him by the balls.
Although beware: PMLN propaganda factory is already on it: Trying to save him by painting it as Establishment vs Hanif Abbasi.
A media capable of seeing an angel in Malik Riaz is capable of anything- all u need is a heavy pocket. The drug dealer in question has certainly got one. (Go and google how much one kg of Ephidrine fetches in international market if u have any doubt). Already Javed Ch has written in his favour. Hamid Mir with his anti Army, anti Sh Rasheed leanings has written in his defence. Just wait and see how Asma Sherazi, Sana Bucha, Najam Sethi and paid columnists rush to his rescue.
In this era of sold out, corporate mainstream media, social media remains our last hope.
And lets see how courts react, under such pressure from media. Lets hope they dispense justice and dispel the impression of being “Sharif Courts”.
So lets keep our fingers crossed, and hope this dirt, this low life drug dealer is wiped off the face of my beautiful city of Rawalpindi.
i knw hanif abasi very closly . I m of his constituency. he is a self made public figure.. politicised case against him by his rival sheikh rasheed… sheikh cnt beat him on political ground so using cheap means
