Punjab police on Wednesday killed suspected Taliban militant near Multan, officials said.
According to local police officials, CID police on tip intercepted a vehicle near Ghazi Ghat near Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday afternoon.
During search, a suspected militant wearing suicide jacket, tried to explode his vest but before blow himself, police opened fire and killed him on spot.
Bomb Disposal Squad was called from Multan to defuse his suicide jacket and to clear his bag which police believed was full of hand grenades and other weapons.
Police said deceased militant belonged to “Mati-ul-Allah” group of banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
