Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat has said that the Punjab government was deliberately creating a power crisis, in collaboration with WAPDA officials, on the same pattern as the ‘Atta’ crisis before the last general elections, to defame the government. In a statement released on Tuesday, Shujaat said that a protest by some PML-Q ministers and members, on Monday, was meant to defame the federal government by the Punjab government, in the name of load shedding and unjust distribution of development funds.
He accused WAPDA officials of colluding with the Chief Minister to shut power during Sehar and Iftar, so that people would curse the federal government. This is a conspiracy similar to the one the caretaker government carried out, before the last general elections, by creating an artificial shortage of flour. Shujaat said that after hearing some complaints against certain government officials, Petroleum Minister Dr Asim Hussain had issued transfer orders for some of them. He said that the minister had also issued strict instructions to federal government officials not to have contact with political parties otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
