Federal Minister for Water and Power Ahmed Mukhtar has directed the Energy Management Committee (EMC) to streamline the load management, eliminate unscheduled load shedding and ensure equitable load shedding in the country.
Federal minister made these directions while presiding over a meeting of newly constituted Energy Management Committee (EMC) on Wednesday.
The Minister asked them to ensure proper level of load management and full compliance at the DISCO level and for coordination between DISCO and NPCC.
The Minister said that two officers from every DISCO will be located in the NPCC and will ensure allocated power drawls as per their share, lift forced load shedding and remove transmission and distribution constraints. The committee was also asked to monitor the generation and there should be no plants shut down due to minor faults and no long hour power interruption due to system constraints. The Minister said that smooth and uninterrupted power supply is the priority of the government. He further said that the government is utilizing all the resources to enhance the power generation. He also directed that there should be no load shedding during Sehar and Iftar and efforts should be made to provide maximum relief to the consumers in the month of Ramazan.
The meeting also discussed various measures of energy conservation, reduce line losses, and use of energy efficient electric appliances for consumers.
