4 more peacocks die in Tharparkar, toll rises to 124 in 23 days

Another four peacocks died of rani khait disease on Tuesday, despite tall claims by the Wildlife Department, poultry experts and provincial government of taking steps to overcome it.
With the death of four more peacocks in Mitthi area of Tharparkar, 23-day death toll mounted to 124.
According to details, the dreadful disease continued to claim lives of costly peacocks as authorities were unable to control it.
Livestock and poultry experts were of the opinion that all efforts were being put to overcome the disease and it was hoped that situation would improve in next few days.
Meanwhile, local people said hens and cocks affected of the disease were the major cause of spreading it and they should be disposed of first.

  1. This is too much, the Wildlife Department should open their eyes and take the necessary steps to overcome this disease. Peacocks are not only beautiful birds but they have religious affiliations as well. It is also a way of bringing the tourists to visit Tharparkar.
    Would the Wildlife Department take notice and do the needful?
