The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday ordered for equal power load shedding in all provinces of the country during Ramadan. LHC Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard a petition filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique against load shedding during the hours of Sehri and Iftar. The court ruled that no province should be discriminated against on the issue of load shedding, and that it should be carried out on a uniform basis. The petitioner stated that incidents of power theft were more frequent in other provinces as opposed to Punjab, adding that consumers in Punjab were still paying more than those in other provinces. The court moreover issued notices to the federal government, the Ministry for Water and Power and distribution companies for August 7.
