Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Monday said Pakistan’s spy chief would call for an end to US drone strikes in the Tribal Areas and push for sharing of technology and intelligence during an upcoming visit to Washington later this week.
“We will push for no drones. If we (Pakistan and the US) are partners, we should sit together and have a common strategy,” Malik told a news conference in Dubai. “However, there has been no common strategy in this regional war against a common enemy,” Malik said.
“I hope the visit of the ISI chief will have good results. There is some dialogue going on as we speak,” he said. The United States has given no sign it is willing to halt the drone strikes. “Both countries have to find a middle way,” Malik told reporters. “This of course means intelligence-sharing. Also, give us the technology and we will use it. The US has given us F16s. Are we misusing it?” ISI DG Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam’s visit to meet CIA Director General David Petraeus will be his first since he took over the agency’s reins in March and follows a thaw in relations between Pakistan and the United States.
Pakistan, however, continues to insist US drone strikes – which it says are a breach of its sovereignty – must end. Islamabad has been increasingly vocal in its public opposition to the drones. Pakistan’s leaders had quietly approved the strikes initially, but now say they are a violation of sovereignty and insist they fan anti-US sentiment.

  1. Does rehman malik realize how stupid it sounds that the a sovereign and independent country with sixth largest army in the world which is also nuclear capable is begging another country "please don't beat us any more". reman malik, zardari and kiayani can stick the nuclear bombs up their ass because thats about all these bombs are good for. They don't even deter untrained and unorganized afghan talibans to cross the border and kill very organized and "brave" Pakistani soldiers. Maybe they don't know how big our army is and that we have nuclear bombs 🙂
