Cabinet committee to meet functionaries to win Baloch trust

In an attempt to restore the trust of Baloch people in the federation, the cabinet sub-committee has decided that it would meet various functionaries of Balochistan as soon as possible. The first meeting of the cabinet sub-committee to look into the affairs of Balochistan was held on Monday in the Committee Room of Cabinet Division.
Federal Minister for Defence Syed Naveed Qamar chaired the meeting while Minister for Law and Justice Farooq Naik, Minister for Postal Services Sardar Muhammad Umar Gorgeij and the defence secretary attended the meeting. The participants of the meeting decided that it would meet the Balochistan chief minister governor, chief secretary, FC inspector general and IGP to examine various options available with the federal and provincial governments for improving law and order in Balochistan.
The law minister presented the constitutional position to the Committee and explained how provincial government could be assisted in the matter. The committee would visit Quetta in the coming days to have concrete discussions with all the stakeholders.
It was stressed that all decisions would be taken in consultation with provincial authorities and all possible assistance, after identifying weak areas, would be provided to them in this regard. It was also decided that the committee would be meeting on a daily basis in order to present its report to the cabinet within the stipulated time.
