Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Sunday said that current electricity crisis was due to some technical faults and windstorm in Muzaffargarh which would be resolved within next 2-3 days.
Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), he said some major problems had occurred simultaneously due to windstorm in Muzaffargarh, adding that five electric polls of main 500kv heavy transmission line were damaged and power got suspended from system causing the current crisis.
He said that technical teams had reached on the spot and 300MW electricity suspended from Muzaffargarh would be added to the system on Sunday night while 350 MW would be restored till Monday with the functioning of Lal Pir power plant.
However, it would take 2-3 days to restore 350 MW more from Park Jin power plant which would help to overcome the current problem of energy, Kaira added. He said further 350 MW would be added soon to the system with repairing of a part of Chashma Nuclear power plant. Guddu power plant would also start functioning soon and the present crisis would be resolved by improving the current shortage of almost 2000 MW. He said that unscheduled load shedding would end after the addition of 2000 MW into the system. The information minister said that the government was also providing oil supply to all power plants.
