Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf met former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani at the Aiwan-e-Sadar on Sunday and discussed a wide range of issues, including the country’s current political situation. The prime minister also congratulated Gilani on the success of his son, Abdul Qadir Gilani on his election as MNA from NA-151 Multan.In the meeting which lasted for over two hours, Ashraf said the return of Abdul Qadir Gilani in the by-elections had silenced all those who had doubts about the popularity of the PPP. “His return is a vindication of the pro-people policies of the government as well as their faith in the present coalition government.” Ashraf expressed the confidence that the PPP along with its allies would win the coming general elections as well. “The appointment of Fakhruddin G Ibrahim, an eminent jurist of impeccable integrity should put to rest any speculations about the next general elections,” he emphasised.
