At the conclusion of the first segment of the three segment Ramadan Rose Bowl Golf Championship, endorsed by Elba, at the Royal Palm Golf Course, the golfers who took off impressively at the end of the first segment yesterday were Faisal Naeem Kari and Munzir Bokhari. Certainly they exhibited confidence and were not cowed down by the state of fasting nor by the tough course conditions and nor by the presence of some accomplished golfers and competitors like Amir Mehmood, Abdullah Sharif, Hussain Hamid and Shahid Abbas. They were splendid off the tees never spraying off the fairways and adequately backed their tee shots with accurate approach shots to the green. Faisal Naseem emerged as the perfect golfer and so did Munzir and their scores of net 30 over nine holes are applaud worthy. Out of the field of 50 other contenders, those who are not in the forefront but in a position to upset the two leaders over the remaining two segments are,Waqar Butt(net 33),Abdul Islam Nazi(34), Taha Mehmood(34),and four others at a score of net 35.These four competitors are Maj Ehtisham, Abdullah Sharif, Tariq Mushtaq and Shakeel Ahmed. In the race for gross honors Amir Mehmood and Shahid Abbas are decently placed along with Hamid Sharif, Abdullah Sharif and Tariq. The next segment will be contested on the 10th august at the Royal Palm Golf Course.
