The doctors at government and private hospitals in Balochistan on Saturday continued strike for the second day in protest against the abduction of their fellow doctor. Dr Din Mohammad Bangulzai, a surgeon affiliated with Bolan Medical College, was kidnapped by armed men on Sunday when he was coming to Quetta from Mastung. On Wednesday, the kidnappers contacted his family and demanded a ransom of Rs 8 million for his release. The strike is being observed on the call of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA). On Thursday, the doctors across the province warned the government to recover Dr Bangulzai within 24 hours, warning of a province-wide strike in case of failure. Only the emergency wards at the government hospitals were functioning during the strike. On the other hand, patients suffered due to the strike and demanded immediate opening of the hospitals of the province.
