Due to sheer negligence and lack of interest by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the state-of-the-art slaughterhouse project in the federal capital is facing an unnecessary delay. The CDA had first designated a four-kanal plot in Sector G-10 for wholesale market but despite the lapse of many years, this could not be materialized, after which the CDA earmarked a 20-acre plot in H-9 for construction of a wholesale market as well as a slaughterhouse. In this regard, the director works had prepared PC 1 which was also sent to the development working committee of the CDA for approval. However, CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal did not approved the project, saying that the CDA had been facing financial crisis.
It was decided that the G-10 Sector plot would be auctioned and its proceeds would be used to construct the slaughterhouse and the wholesale market in H-9. So far the plot of G-10 has not been placed for auction.
