Sui Gas officials on Friday said that an operation had been conducted against 102 houses that had been stealing gas from a main pipeline at Aliya Town, City 42 reported. As a result of this operation, officials recovered several illegal pipelines and meters. In another report, Sui Gas theft was also uncovered at a plastic factory in Shad Bagh, where gas was being stolen through a domestic meter instead of a commercial one. It must be mentioned here that only a few days ago, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) Managing Director Arif Hameed had warned that industries should expect a serious gas shortfall this winter. He had also said that while SNGPL was doing its better to stop gas theft, 10 percent of the gas is lost from the main pipeline because of illegal activities.
