Hamza Elahi murder hearing on Friday

The hearing of Hamza Elahi’s murder case has been set for August 6 at the Additional Sessions Court where the judge has called for a copy of the case file on the accused Shan Khusro, the son of former Lahore commissioner and senior bureaucrat Khusro Pervez. Earlier Elahi, son of Shah Alam Market trader Sheikh Fazal Elahi, was found dead in DHA Phase VIII, and the police said that he had been shot in the head from point blank range, while talking on his cell phone. Shan Khusro, son of Additional Federal Secretary Khusro Pervez Khan, admitted to the accidental murder of his friend, Hamza Elahi, on June 2. In the FIR registered by Fazal Elahi with the Burki police under Section 302 against Shan Khusro, he stated that his son Hamza left home after he made a phone call to Shan. After that he received a phone call that his son had been gunned down in DHA Phase VIII.
On the contrary, Shan had stated before police that he had shot and killed Hamza accidentally. He told police that he and Hamza had gone out on the night of June 2 to Defence for a drive and for firing in the air. He said that he had got the unlicensed gun from a personal contact in Farooqabad.
Shan told police that while he was trying to remove a bullet from the chamber of the gun, which he was holding in his lap, it accidentally went off and a bullet hit Hamza near his right ear. Hamza was driving the car and was on the phone at the time. Shan said that Hamza died instantly.
Hamza’s body was found the next day in DHA Phase VIII.
