Girl burnt for saying ‘No’

A 16-year-old girl was immolated by her brother after refusing to marry against her will here on Friday. According to police, Beenish’s family was angry at her refusal to marry against her. The incident occurred in the Guru Nanakpura area. The girl was taken to Civil Hospital, where doctors said that 70 percent of her body had been burnt. On the other hand, the girl’s uncle said that she had tried self-immolation, and was not burnt by brother or anyone else.

We need to educate society as a whole to be more empathetic towards women and their rights. its part of a deep rooted problem in our culture, indeed every Islamic culture, that is the status of women who don't have any rights but are considered machines of giving births to children and property of their husband,father and brother, it also shows a failure on the part of the educated people to instil morals in the society and educate the people about women's rights. On the other hand,Punjabis are becoming more and more violent when it comes to religion and women,in a recent poll,Lahore is on top of the list for being a worst place for women under the watch of THIEF MINISTER SHABAZ LOHAR.
    In 2012,women have rights to decide about their future,they are not the property of their fathers,brothers or husbands,lets get out of the stone age.
