At least four persons including a political party worker were killed and three others injured in several acts of violence in different parts of the city on Thursday. According to details, a tortured dead body of a man was found from Shoe Market, Garden. He was identified as Muhammad Suhail.
Another man, Umair, was also shot dead in a firing incident in Garden area. In another incident of firing in Mehmoodabad area No 06 near Tipu Sultan road, some unidentified persons shot dead an activist of a political party. The deceased was identified as Tahir Khan, police sources said. A body, packed in a gunny sack, was found from Soldier Bazaar No 2. Police sources said that the deceased was kidnapped before being murder.
In Zaman Town a security guard of a private company was wounded while resisting a robbery attempt. Two persons were also injured in firing incidents in Karimabad and Qasba More. Meanwhile, Rangers and police, in a joint search operation against criminals, apprehended 28 suspects in the city overnight. Arms and drugs were also recovered from the arrested suspects.
On a tip-off, Rangers and police conducted a targeted operation in Pehlwan Goth and Pak Colony and arrested 28 suspects. Around 20 outlaws were apprehended from Pak Colony alone and recovered arms and drugs from their possession. On the other hand, police conducted a raid against drug peddlers in old vegetable market (Purani Sabzi Mandi) area. Police recovered drugs and weapons from houses but the suspects escaped.

Foolproof security for Chinese in Sindh, says IGP

Following the terrorist attack on Chinese consulate in Karachi, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Faiz Ahmed Leghari on Thursday directed the law enforcement agencies to ensure provision of foolproof security to Chinese nationals working on different developmental projects in the province. While presiding over a high level meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi, IG Sindh said that effective measures should be taken for the provision of security to the Chinese residing in Karachi and other parts of the province and adequate security must also be provided at their residences and offices. During the meeting IG Sindh directed DIG Sukkhar, Hyderabad, Larkana and Mirpur Khas to submit a comprehensive report of Karokari cells in his office, which were being run by the district level police. Meanwhile, all the four DIGs submitted comprehensive crime reports to IG Sindh pertaining to current year crimes, including ransom, kidnapping, highway robbery cases and others. IG Sindh further directed the concerning police officials to ensure the deployment of smart and active policemen, equipped with latest weapons, at the highways’ toll plazas aiming to decrease criminal activates on the highways.
