Judiciary wants democracy to continue: CJ

The Supreme Court resumed hearing the petitions filed against the contempt law on Friday, according to a private TV channel.
A five-member bench of the court comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Shakirullah Jan, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Jawad S Khawaja and Justice Tassaduq Jilani was hearing the petitions.
Chief Justice said that the judiciary wanted the country to continue with the current democratic system.
Justice Jawad S Khawaja said that the parliamentarians were the public servants and were paid with taxpayer’s money, adding that the court had been delegated with implementation of the Constitution.
Earlier on Thursday, the court heard parliamentary records of the speeches made during contempt law passage.

  2. CJ & his cronies must go home, their position is no more tenable, the sooner these PCO judges leave the better for the country.

  3. CJ is looking into opposition's working in parliament…and said that they should have blocked the contempt of court. now chaudhry would twist the arm of PMLN by Asghar Khan case.

  4. Judiciary has failed utterly to come up to the expectations of common man. Instead it seems serving the interests of Ruling class.
