At least three persons were killed and several others were injured in separate incidents of violence and firing in different areas of the city on Wednesday.
According to police, unknown armed men shot at and injured one man identified as Kashif Ali, 30, near Kala Pul railway line in Mehmoodabad area. The injured was rushed to Jinnah Hospital where he succumbed to wounds.
Police said the deceased was activist of a political party and the incident seems to be an outcome of target killing.
A youth was killed in firing of unknown assailants at Liaqatabad No 2. In Korangi area of Karachi unidentified gunmen shot dead one person.
Meanwhile, firing incidents continued in different areas of the city during which 10 persons were reported injured.
Police launched targeted search operations in different areas of the city including Kunwari Colony, Manghopir, Lyari, Sohrab Goth and Shah Faisal Colony during which several suspects were taken into custody.
Police arrest 50 accused: The Karachi police arrested 50 accused in a drive against criminals from different areas of the city during the past 24 hours.
A police statement on Wednesday said that 16 pistols, one Kalashinkov, one rifle and five mobile phones were recovered from the possession of those arrested. The police have registered cases and started investigation, it was further stated.
Police arrest TTP target killer: Police on Wednesday arrested a target killer of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Karachi chapter in an encounter.
According to SSP Aamir Farroqui, police conducted a raid in Kunwari Colony, Manghopir and arrested TTP target killer Nazeerullah Mehsud. Police also recovered arms and ammunitions from his custody.
Media reports say Mehsud was involved in two murder cases including that of CID Constable Khan Muhammad. He was also taking extortion from factories situated in Manghopir, sources said.
