The sale of costly plots has become a routine, allegedly to manage day-to-day matters of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), causing an irreparable loss to the civic body.
Moreover, weekly meetings of the board members have been stopped with the deputation of new officers in the administration, causing inconvenience to the masses. Sources said that the CDA is not holding weekly meetings of the board members to take up important projects, development works, ongoing inquiries against officials and other problems.
It is mentioned here that no new project could be started during the last four years by the civic body, but dozens of plots have been sold to run the financial matters of the CDA on ad-hoc basis.
A senior official in the CDA pleading anonymity said that officers were busy in their own businesses and claimed that no board meeting has been held during the last two months whereas performance of the civic body has been affected badly.
The official further said that high officials hold board meetings only on the directives of the government. On other hand, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Asharaf has directed Cabinet Secretary Nargis Sethi to maintain good governance and stop inductions in the CDA on political basis.
