Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday said the legal fraternity is an important segment for society as well as for the judicial system of the country.
He said their significance cannot be denied as without their assistance and active participation, the goal of speedy justice to litigants at their doorsteps cannot be fulfilled.
The chief justice of Pakistan said this while talking to the delegation of Abbottabad High Court Bar Association, headed by its President Saeed Akhter Khan and comprising other twelve executive members.
Appreciating the efforts and struggle of Abbottabad Bar during the lawyers’ movement, the CJP said that the struggle of the bar to support the judiciary for the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution was unprecedented and due to the efforts of legal fraternity the independent judiciary was restored.
He said the trust of public at large in the judiciary has increased and “now we will have to further work hard to cater to the legal needs of litigants by providing them justice at their doorsteps.
The members of the Abbottabad Bar thanked the chief justice for sparing time for them and praised his professional commitment and determination for the cause of dispensation of justice, rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution.
They apprised the chief justice that due to the National Judicial Policy the ratio of disposal of cases has become high and people are getting justice more consistently. They suggested steps to further improve the quality of judgments. The delegation also praised role for eradication of corruption from judiciary.
The chief justice urged them to pinpoint corruption along with concrete proofs so that action can be taken against the delinquents.
The delegation invited the CJP to the Abbottabad High Court Bar Association. The chief justice thanked the delegation and assured them of visiting the Bar soon.
