Securing 9 of the top 12 positions, private institutions managed to dominate this year’s matriculation results. Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Chairman Nasrullah Virk announced the results on Tuesday and said the result was error-free and transparent.
TOP POSITIONS: Sarmad Waqar Hashmi, a student of Beaconhouse School System for Boys Canal Side Campus, and Nashka Zulifqar of Fauji Foundation Model High School were declared the top students for securing 1021 marks from the total 1050 marks. Arslan Tariq Irfan of Govt Central Model School, Lahore, stood second while Sadaf Sarfraz of Crescent Model Higher Secondary School for girls stood third by securing 1019 marks.
SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES: Sarmad Waqar, Arslan Tariq, Talha Riaz, Sadaf Sarfraz, Khaula Tariq, Aaqib Naseer, Hafiz Usama, Hafiz Adeel Ashraf, Ayesha Aslam, Aamina Siddique Arooj Nasir topped the board in Science and Humanities groups. BISE chairman said it was an achievement of the board that it had carried out the process of checking papers and announcing results transparently. BISE Controller Anwar Farooq on this occasion said this year, 290, 400 students had sat for the exams and ove 6,000 employees and teachers had prepared the results. On the other hand, students and teachers condemned the government over the performance of government schools and said that it was a shame that the poor, who could not afford the schools of the elite, were being provided with insufficient facilities and opportunities to hone their talent. Lahore Teachers’ Union President Allah Rakha Gujjar said government schools were facing various issues including lack of facilities and faculties and no real effort was being made to improve the system.
CEREMONY: A ceremony will be held at Alhamra Lahore today (Wednesday) in which these position holders will be given prizes.
