Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) Chairman Raza Rabbani on Tuesday stated that committee members had reservations over the non-implementation of some of parliament’s recommendations by the Foreign Office. The in-camera session of the PCNS was held at the Parliament House on Tuesday.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar briefed the committee members on Pakistan’s stance over Afghanistan and related issues. The members expressed confidence in the implementation of some recommendations of parliament, but had reservations over non-implementation of some other recommendations. They directed the foreign minister to take necessary measures. Briefing reporters later, Rabbani said the members had mixed sentiments on the briefing, adding that the foreign minister was directed by the PCNS to implement recommendations of parliament about reviewing relations with NATO, the United States and Afghanistan.
Rabbani said the foreign minister had briefed the committee over the recent visit of prime minister to Afghanistan. He said the next session of the PCNS would be held on August 6 to analyse the proposed legislative measures by the committee over the missing person’s issue.
