The United States is going to release the first installment of the coalition support fund (CSF), frozen for 14 months, within the next two days, Finance Ministry officials said on Tuesday. The foreign exchange reserves would shoot up to $15.87 billion with the release of $1.10 billion.
Sources privy to the Finance Ministry said the government had sought $2.50 billion in the form of expenses incurred over the war against terrorism but the US did not pay a single penny since May 2, 2011 Abbottabad raid.
According to the officials, the government had also estimated an income of $80 million with respect to the CSF in the last fiscal year. However, the US did not clear the bills after the Salala attack and the NATO supply blockage.
They said Pakistan would get $1.10 billion in the next two days under the head of CSF.
