Chairman of Pakistan Peoples’ Party-Sherpao (PPP-S) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has asked the government to retain the Afghan refugees till restoration of peace in Afghanistan.
In a statement issued here, he said that Afghan nation had been suffering a lot for the last three decades and lost everything in the conflict that started in 1979.
Aftab Sherpao feared that repatriating the refugees would create a new crisis for Afghanistan and warned that this step might further deteriorate the already vulnerable relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He said that such a huge influx into Afghanistan would create tremendous problems for the international community and the Afghan government.
“Besides, it may also put Pakistan at odds with the United Nations and other international partners which will not be good for us, as our own people are residing in camps,” he noted.
