Hand grenade thrown at Sherpao’s office in Peshawar

Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao President Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao on Tuesday narrowly escaped a terrorist attack when unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade at a party office in Hayatabad. On person was injured in the attack. Police said Sherpao was the target of the attack but he and his brother Sikandar Khan Sherpao were not present in the office when the incident occurred The injured man was identified as Muhammad Amir Khan Achakzai. Sources said windowpanes of nearby buildings were broken by the intensity of the blast while fear and panic prevailed in the area after the attack. Police later rushed to the crime scene and cordoned off the area and started investigation. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf directed the Interior Ministry to provide foolproof security to Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and telephoned Sherpao to assure him the provision of adequate security arrangements for his safety.
