Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner Agha Shahnawaz Babar and other revenue officers visited different markets to check prices of daily use items.
The inspection teams during the visit imposed fine of Rs 17,300 on 27 shopkeepers for overcharging from the consumers. According to details, the deputy commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner I Aijaz-ul- Hassan, Assistant Commissioner Hyderabad City Imtiaz Mangi, Assistant Commissioner Qasimabad Nazir Ahmed Abro, Assistant Commissioner Latifabad Rashid Mehmood Siddiqui and Assistant Commissioner Hyderabad Rural Imtiaz Tunyo paid surprised visits at different markets separately and found many shopkeepers defaulters.
They warned the illegal profiteers to avoid from charging high prices. During the raid, the Hyderabad City assistant commissioner recovered fine of Rs 5,000 from five illegal profiteers and sent two defaulters to jail. Similarly, Assistant Commissioner Qasimabad recovered fine of Rs 7,000 from five illegal profiteers while the Latifabad assistant commissioner recovered fine of Rs 3,300 from 15 shopkeepers for charging high prices.
Besides, the Taluka Hyderabad Rural assistant commissioner recovered Rs 2,000 from two shopkeepers.
