I am writing this letter in reference to an Indian TV talk show called Star Talk. In this show the Information Minister was the guest and a few young students were also present who were questioning her. Although the question seemed pre-prepared and voiced the opinion of the programme makers the fact that most Indian children would prefer war with us cannot be neglected.
One of the kids in audience questioned as to why Pakistan always starts the killings of innocent people. Why couldn’t Pakistan just play by the rules? I beg to differ here. Anybody who says that must not have their facts straight for history shows very clearly that India has always been the one propagating against Pakistan and no matter how hard Pakistan has tried India is the one who would hesitate in initiating peace talk. Even on borders Pakistani soldiers have strict orders not to fire. It is the Indian soldiers who start the fire and obviously Pakistan responds back.
Another very noticeable thing is that the way young minds have been polluted with wrong facts. The guest answering a question about peace talks and how Pakistanis themselves don’t feel any hatred towards India said that the people may want peace but the politicians propagate against India on a domestic level and win elections by making speeches full of hatred for India. Again, dear sir, I’d like to correct her. Our politicians have a lot of other topics to talk about. If not anything their favourite topic is America and not India. So they should come out of this illusion or fantasy that they are living in.
If the Indian students are so keen on war with Pakistan than this shows that they have not been taught what going to war can do to their economy which they have built and ours also. Saying this, one should not perceive that Pakistanis are afraid of India. We never have been and never will be. Besides we have much less at stake than India does.
